August 2023

Back to School Drive

For the month of August, we conducted our first annual  Back to School drive where we stopped at multiple community events within Watts. We successfully:

  • Provided 60 children with parents who have a disability or Health disadvantage with back to school supplies

  • Provided each child with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 or related illnesses in within the  LAUSD school system.   

Teen Leadership Academy Graduation

On September 2nd, 2023 we celebrated the completion of our first Teen Leadership Academy! Over the course of 8 weeks, we trained, educated, and supported our teens to be advocates for their parents and guardians with disabilities or health disadvantages. We are BEYOND proud of each and every one of them!

Watts Non Profit Day

This year, we had the privilege and honor of being invited to the Watts Non-Profit Day. We tabled, spread awareness on disability rights and access, and were awarded a certificate of appreciation by the East Side Riders Bike Club. 

Annual Thanksgiving & Christmas Drive

For the last 4 years, we at Voices of Impact have conducted annual Thanksgiving and Christmas toy Giveaways for families in which a parent or guardian has been impacted by a disability or health disadvantage. Please take a look at our wonderful 2023 Christmas Toy Giveaway :)
